Root canal treatment

Are you experiencing any or all of the symptoms below? If so, chances are that you need root canal treatment

  • Pain when biting down or eating
  • Extreme sensitivity to hot, cold, or sugary food and drinks
  • Aching and / or throbbing tooth pain
  • Swollen gum near a tooth

Call Ivory Dental practice if you are experiencing dental pain. Many people hesitate when it comes to scheduling an appointment for a root canal because the word itself conjures up dreaded images of bright lights, noise, and pain. Recent advances in dental technology have, however  made root canal treatment (also known as endodontic treatment) relatively painless and stress-free.

How is a root canal performed?

During endodontic treatment, your dentist will numb the area before removing inflamed or infected pulp from inside the tooth. The tooth interior will then be carefully cleaned, disinfected and filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. Afterwards, the tooth is fitted with a crown or filling for protection.

Once treatment is completed, we will monitor the area to confirm that the infection has properly healed. Regular cleaning of the surrounding area will ensure that no other problems develop.

Ivory Dental practice uses modern and innovative diagnostic and treatment tools during every root canal procedure. If necessary, we will also offer or recommend pain medications to help you cope with any mild post-procedure discomfort.
